The college is close to the University of Minnesota, which provides students with additional opportunities to perform research. The university also houses one of the largest collections of biomedical journals in the United States and has extensive holdings in other areas of neuroscience as well, all of which are available for use by Macalester students.
Numerous internships and seminars are available at the University of Minnesota and the many research facilities in the Twin Cities area.

Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other education completed
- Submit a letter of recommendation from counselor
- Submit one letter of recommendation from teacher in your primary academic courses of study
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Applicants have to appear in interviews on request by the university
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 79 in ibt; 550 in PBT; 213 in CBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- Duolingo: minimum 110
- PTE: minimum 53
