Students may mix and match electives for a specialization in riding instruction or a specialization in horsemanship and equine care.?This degree is going to provide a foundation for students seeking a graduate degree in such areas as equine nutrition, equine reproduction, or equine sports medicine. Equine Studies students?learn in the classroom and at the?College?s Equestrian Center, located on a beautiful 40-acre site in Paxton, Massachusetts.
Learning Objectives
- Outline business and management concepts and explain the handling of, and management of horses of all ages and physical abilities.
- Analyze equine behavior using science-based evidence and apply solutions to real-world situations.
- Show proficiency in the knowledge and application of proper equine management and husbandry, including analysis of contemporary equine nutrition programs.
- Utilize practical knowledge relating to the safe and efficient management of an equine facility and related natural resources.
- Develop an equine business plan and marketing strategy.
- Assess economic factors that impact the equine industry.
- Demonstrate written and oral communication skills appropriate for the equine industry.
