Elena Mendez Review at Miami Dade College [MDC], Miami | Collegedunia

All of the remarks that I have for the Miami Dade College honors program Are overwhelmingly positive.

EM
8.3 /10

Small class sizes despite being the largest higher education institution in the US. I also received grants that covered my cost of tuition and books which was really helpful and allow me to dedicate all of my time to my studies.

Course Curriculum :

The curriculum for the associate degree program in biology Was fairly straightforward. Two biology classes, two chemistry classes, two English classes, psychology, philosophy, and several humanities were required in order to graduate.

Exams :

I took the SAT and ACT Before enrolling in this associate degree program and I do not remember how I scored on them.

Placement :

Job placements and opportunities didn't really apply to the program that I was in rolled in because when we graduated we only received an associates degree and I continued to transfer to a four-year institution in order to gain my bachelor's degree and then get a job.

Internship :

Although we did not have an internship program, we had required service learning and civic engagement every semester. It really allowed us to get in touch with our community and I believe every college should have these requirements.

Events :

There were so many events because my college had student representation of the hundreds of countries around the world. We celebrated diversity, school pride, women?s leadership, minority rights, among many others.

Fees :

The fee structure of tuition for Miami Dade college was very much a community college level so the classes were very affordable and there were payment plans in order to help those that couldn't pay the full balance of tuition every semester.

Scholarship :

I received a scholarship as part of the honors program that covered the cost of tuition, books, transportation, and academic fees. In order to maintain the scholarship, we had to have a 3.5 to 4.0-grade point average.

Examination Structure :

There were exams often but they were often very short, so it was easy to track how well we were doing on a certain topic before moving on to a more advanced topic. I really enjoyed the exam structure of my program.

Faculty :

The faculty could not have been any better at the honors college. They were deeply invested in their students and would go out of their way to make sure that we were successful in their classes.

Hostel :

There was no on-campus housing for the school so people either lived Off-campus with others, alone or with family. It was a big commuter school in the middle of downtown Miami so there is plenty of access to free and low-cost public transportation.
