I chose this college in particular because of its location and the price since I am an in-state student. I come from about an hour away from the West Virginia University campus. The main component of my decision was the price.
Course Curriculum
I think the curriculum is above standard and very helpful to a student. The staff and professors seem to be able to follow educational guidelines to better benefit students that are paying to have a good education.
Exams
I took the ACT as a junior in high school and then I had to take the ALEKS placement test in my freshman year of college to places into math.
Placement
The university is always holding fairs and events for students and alumni to attend so they can look into careers and different opportunities presented by different companies that also attend these fairs.
Internship
Yes, Most programs at the college do offer internships for their department. If you are in a certificate program or field of study at the university you can often go onto the university website and find your field of study and look into internships.
Events
There are always different events going on at the university. From games and campaigns, they have a dance and all kinds of clubs you can join as well. There are about 5 different clubs at least for different majors.
Fees
My financial aid covered my entire tuition and I even got some money back in a refund that I was able to use for books and my apartment rent since I chose to live off campus.
Scholarship
I have a couple of grants and some loans from financial aid that were very helpful I was able to pay for my entire tuition and even got some money back in return.
Examination Structure
Depending on the class the exam structure differs from every class. Some of my classes like English 101 does not have any exams we just have to turn in different types of essays but classes like my economics we have to go to the class for exams.
Faculty
Everyone I have encountered at West Virginia University has been phenomenal and very helpful in any way that they can. I have not had problems with any staff and they are always willing to help
Hostel
I had a couple of friends that so chose to live within an off-campus apartment which ended up saving me a lot of money because I wasn't forced onto the meal plan at the university. The apartment complex so chose to stay at also has a shuttle to downtown where the campuses are
