One of the reasons I chose UC Santa Barbara as a college to go to is because of its close proximity to the ocean and because I wanted to experience the social life on campus which I heard was pretty good at UC Santa Barbara. My experience was amazing because there were tons of things to do like go out for dinner, party on the weekend or going to town for great food. Also, I chose UCSB as my college because before I came here I visited the campus just once and fell in love with the scenery.
Course Curriculum
UC Santa Barbara offers many great programs and classes for students that are great whether they are for your major or just recreation you get to enjoy each one of them since the professors are really down to earth and are willing to spend time with you. Some classes get full but that is why you have sections and get shorter classes with some really good TA's. I took Geography with Professor Sweeney and he has a lot of knowledge on the subject and he is also a pretty fun guy.
Exams
I didn't take many exams to get into UC Santa Barbara but I did take the SAT and the ACT multiple times to get a higher score than before.
Placement
It is a college town so not that many job opportunities outside, for example, I just to make some extra money I tried applying to McDonald's but they had a long wait list. Jobs can be found at the beginning of the year as well like being a paid tutor.
Internship
My experience on Internships is that I had many but mine were unpaid and therefore I had to donate some time out of my week to go and work as a tutor or teaching assistant. Also, there are internships that you choose but the downfall is that you have to have a high GPA.
Events
UC Santa Barbara had some pretty nice events to go to for example every year there was a carnival filled with things to do and also we had the movie premiere of James Franco and Danny McBride on campus which was pretty amazing. Also throughout the year, we had many different events so students can enjoy.
Fees
Coming to UCSB was pretty expensive but you have financial aid and many come here with scholarships which lower cost down. Also, dorm rooms keep going up that is why it's better to live outside of campus.
Scholarship
I got about two to three scholarships but that takes time to apply so that is why I didn't even apply for more. Also, I did qualify for financial aid since I was a first-generation college student.
Examination Structure
If by exam structure you mean how exams were in courses: exams were for me mostly papers that we had to turn in and sometimes multiple choice which many times were easy if you kept up with the work. Sometimes studying for finals was intense because there was a lot of reading and sometimes I had to do all night.
Faculty
Some staff is pretty helpful and some just do not care. Overall I had a great experience during my four years at UC Santa Barbara because most staff and Teacher Assistants are willing to help you in any way possible. I had a TA who helped me pass my classes and even invited me for lunch and dinner many times.
Hostel
During my first year at UC Santa Barbara, I stayed on the off-campus dorms which were Santa Catalina North which was a good experience because they were not on campus and they were an easy commute to campus by bus or bike. My second year I stayed in Manzanita village which was pretty cool too and my final year my friends and I shared expenses on an apartment.
