Lauren Review at Carroll University, Waukesha | Collegedunia

Carroll University

L
5.8 /10

Direct admittance into the athletic training pre-physical therapy program. I wanted to play tennis. I wanted a small college so I would have smaller classes. I also wanted to know familiar faces on campus.

Course Curriculum :

It is okay, tough but I feel like I do not learn enough application. Some of the practical skills in athletic training or not taught. A lot of it is learned on her own through books and videos. They believe in the 80-20 rule. 80% is learned on your own and the rest 20% they teach you.

Exams :

I took the AT and got a 25. I took the GRE to apply for my program but my score didn't count since I am admitted already.

Placement :

Placements are easy they set it up nicely. I will have no issues finding a job when I graduate. There are good job opportunities I am not worried. They do have a good career center and it is helpful. They help build resumes.

Internship :

Yes, internships that are unpaid and you are required to still pay full tuition to Carroll. I have had a variety of experiences with different sports, d3 college, high school, d1 College, clinic, and elementary school.

Events :

We have a brains run to raise money for paralysis. We celebrate homecoming to reunite the community. There are many events like working with disabled children and giving their parents a night off. There are various events through different clubs.

Fees :

There are a lot of hidden fees that show up on your statement. They also make everyone pay an activity fee even when you are commuter. There are also upper-level class fees. And class fees for your major on top of the very overpriced Tuition.

Scholarship :

Carroll Gives an academic scholarship. Financial aid is OK. I definitely wish there was more help available to the students. Carroll seems to be all about money. There are additional scholarships available but they are very hard to get.

Examination Structure :

The exams are tough. Some exams are multiple choice, select all that apply, short answer, fill in the blank, matching, id. There is a variety of everything. However sometimes what we learned in class does not line up with what is on the exam.

Faculty :

They are okay. Some are super helpful and nice while others are not helpful. Some treat you like a number and only care about the money. I feel like the cost of my education does not line up with the quality of my education.

Hostel :

My freshman year I stayed in the dorms. In my sophomore and junior year, I stayed in the suites. In my senior year, I lived in the house off-campus. And during grad school, I will live in the apartment. Housing in Waukesha is easy to find.
