The Best College in the IE

Cal Poly Pomona is a 'hands-on' school, they're very well known for their 'learn by doing', the philosophy which is very beneficial in various factors, and for engineering majors, it is really helpful, especially because they prepare you for the work field.

Course Curriculum :

The fact that the courses are lectured and not always Web-Enhanced is really helpful, especially because I am a visual learner, I can't learn things online. Lectured classes make things more discussion based and facilitate your ability to understanding the material better.

Exams :

I took the SAT and got a score of 1000. I also took 2 AP exams that were AP Spanish Language and got a score of a 4, and AP Spanish literature and got a score of a 3.

Placement :

Cal Poly has a career fair every so often where job representative should come out to the university quad and speak to students about job opportunities not only now but after they graduate as well which is really helpful. Also, the career center is always a good place to go if you're planning to work now. Jobs on campus are also a great opportunity since they're usually always hiring because of how many awesome resources and events we have going on.

Internship :

Cal Poly Pomona provides internships year round but I haven't had the opportunity to get an intern because I have a job so I haven't experienced one but Cal Poly doesn't have variousness internship opportunities for those who?s seen in search of one.

Events :

There are various events at Cal Poly that are usually hosted by BEAT or ASI. Especially in the fall, there are various events like Welcome day, BRONCOFUSION, Bronco Family Day, Career Fair, Polyview, Poly transfer welcome day, coffee chats with your college, LOTS of clubs and organizations, guest speakers, etc. They're very welcoming and encourage students to go and ALWAYS provide food or snacks which really gets us, students.

Fees :

Tuition is about $7500 but they break it down to you by tuition, transportation, meals, personal expenses, room & board, books, etc. Which came out to a total of approximately $18000 a year. Other charges include the parking pass which is about $150 a semester. Sometimes professors need you to use certain items for their class like the 'blue book' or other items that aren't necessarily expensive but they still are necessary, they are 0.60 each I believe.

Scholarship :

I've applied for financial aid through FAFSA.org, you simply fill out the application and you have to be 100% honest. This includes stating if you're dependent or independent and how much your yearly income is. You provide information from the IRS too and schools you are thinking of going to, etc. and they determined how much money you're eligible for.

Examination Structure :

They usually have certain days where you take Final exams for certain classes you're in. If you follow Cal Poly Pomona on Instagram, they usually post important dates about everything happening all school year long which is very helpful, so if you forget what day you're be supposed to be taking an exam for a certain class, it?s helpful to look at their Instagram or simply head over to or call the SSB (student service students building) and they're willing to answer any questions you might have.

Faculty :

The faculty and staff are SUPER helpful. They're always willing to help and always give you the best advice and resources but to help you be successful, they sometimes make events for students who have for example depression, are stressed, need a break, etc.

Hostel :

I commute to school every other day and always take the time to study and do homework. I live about 20/30 minutes away from Cal Poly so I am there's most of my day if I have a class that day if I'm not home, I usually go to the library or the BRIC. Other than that sometimes I go over to a friends house that lives 5 minutes away from cal poly if we study together.
