I chose to go to the DU because of the amazing and financially supportive study abroad program. I also came for the warmth and the sunshine. I loved the campus when I visited and met with some students who talked about how fantastic DU was and how rarely they felt homesick.
Course Curriculum :
I think that the course curriculum makes sense on a large scale. However, I don't think that it is fair that we pay for almost 2 years of university to study course curriculum; course curriculum doesn't even relate to what we are in university for. In most other countries- they do not have the course curriculum.
Exams :
I took ACTs and SATs and I don't remember what score I got on either but I got what was considered average.
Internship :
I haven't had an internship with my university yet. However, my university provides workshops to investigate internships in the surrounding areas. I have heard that these workshops are very helpful but have not been to one myself.
Fees :
The school is very expensive (70,000 a year with fees, tuition, and board). However, financial aid has been very supportive of my personal financial issues. Therefore, I've gotten a lot of scholarship and grant.
Scholarship :
I have had to apply through private scholarship or loans. For financial aid through the university, I just had to do a FAFSA and CSS and provide copies of mine and my parent's tax returns/w-2s.
Examination Structure :
The exams are usually on paper and structured as short answer and multiple choice. We use a lot of scantrons. There has also been a large turn toward using online exam platforms to reduce paper use. These are through Canvas and Respondus.
Faculty :
I love the faculty at my school. They are intelligent in their fields of study and support the students in every way. I have only had one or two professors I didn't love.
Hostel :
For the first two years, you're required to live on campus in dormitories and have a food plan. The dormitories are okay but expensive. However, after the two years are over, students live in apartments or houses.
