Bachelor [Art] From University of Wisconsin

BFA candidates must complete three studio foundations courses and an additional six required studio courses. These required classes introduce students to fundamental processes and concepts in a range of visual art practices. An additional six art electives must also be completed, divided between 2-D and 3-D art disciplines. The three introductory Art History survey courses are also required for the major, as well as two additional upper-division courses; one in Art Theory and the other an elective, upper-division art history course. The remaining five courses must be selected from a single art discipline, becoming the student's area of specialization and focused research. This approach allows a student to focus in Fine Art without an outside minor.?

The 21-credit minor required of Bachelor of Art degrees in the department is waived and those credits are taken in more advanced Fine Art course work. Students from this program often seek admission into graduate schools with a well defined personal and professional portfolio after completing the undergraduate degree and go on to teach or work as professional artists. The degree's specialization provides the opportunity for the development of conceptual focus and advanced technical facility in their area of emphasis.
