The program is designed with the purpose of creating school counselor leaders who have the knowledge and skills to aid K-12 students’ in the areas of academic, career, and personal/social development as well as contributing to the overall climate of the school environment. Further, our graduates are trained in the American School Counselor Association’s (ASCA) National Model, which emphasizes 1) creating a strong counseling program foundation, 2) the effective delivery of counseling initiatives, 3) the management of counseling programs, and 4) the accountability of program effectiveness.

Career Possibilities:

Career possibilities center on working with children and adolescents in K-12 school settings, however the degree may provide students with foundational skills needed to work in other areas of counseling beyond the K-12 school setting.
