- The Community Development graduate program at the University of California, Davis, is a two-year multi-disciplinary applied social science program that leads to a Master of Science degree. The course of study provides a strong theoretical background in Community Development derived from a multi-disciplinary approach that includes Sociology, Anthropology, Political Economy, Geography, Environmental Science, Landscape Architecture, and other social sciences, combining both their theoretical as well as applied aspects.
- Students gain advanced knowledge and social analysis of communities; community design and planning; microeconomic planning; program development; nonprofit management; and community action research and community change skills necessary for careers in community and human services as administrators, designers, planners, researchers and technicians.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- A minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent) from the institution where students have earned or will earn their bachelor's degree.
- Successful applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent that is comparable to a degree.
- Applicants whose native language or the language of instruction is not English must submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores
- The GRE score requirement for the 2021-2022 admission cycle has been waived for all students.
Indian Eligibility:
- 4 year Bachelor's Degree, a 3 year Bachelor's Degree with a Post Graduate Diploma or Master's Degree, or a higher degree.
Scores Required
The GRE score is not required or accepted for Fall 2022 admission.
