Bachelor of Science [B.S] (Civil Engineering)
Field of Study:
$41,594/Yr
The bachelor of science in civil engineering in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is designed to satisfy the diverse interests and professional goals of future civil engineers. Accredited by ABET, the undergraduate program allows students to develop study plans that are suited to their individual interests (including extensive options for courses outside of the McCormick School of Engineering) so that they may address the social, physical, and financial challenges of constructing and managing the nation’s infrastructure.
Students also learn how to apply and develop computer models and analytical and experimental methods to explore the response of infrastructure systems to normal and extreme stresses in advance of construction.
Recent graduates hold jobs in a wide spectrum of areas, including infrastructure engineering consulting, construction, project management, architecture, energy, and finance. Their positions include project engineers, project managers, field engineers, and designers. Some graduates join the business sector as business analysts, technical consultants, and derivative traders. Their employers include Amazon, Boeing, Accenture, ARCADIS, Mass Electric Construction, and the National Forest Service. Many continue onto graduate studies in some of the world’s most respected, top-ranked universities.
