In cooperation with the College of Education, the department provides additional coursework for mathematics majors who are pursuing certification to teach secondary mathematics. The department hosts a weekly colloquium Tuesdays in the Fall and Spring. Dr. Mark Greer is coordinating the talks.
Math majors may participate in the Math/CS Undergraduate Research Team and the Dual Degree Engineering Program (DDEP). The DDEP is designed to be completed in 3 years at UNA and 2 years at the University of Alabama. The DDEP is a 3+2 plan offering students the opportunity to earn two bachelor's degrees in 5 years. ?In addition, many math majors are honored by selection to Kappa Mu Epsilon, a specialized honor society in Mathematics.

Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of your high school diploma and transcripts attested by a government institution
- Submit a statement of purpose that should address details about your background, academic interest, career aspiration and volunteering experience
- Students do not require to submit SAT and ACT scores
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 61 in iBT; 173 in CBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 5.5
- Duolingo: minimum score of 90
- PTE: minimum score of 46
- TOEIC: minimum score of 600
