Program Highlights
CIS students work with state-of-the-art software packages, and all students have access to IU Northwest’s network of personal computer workstations and online resources, including a networking lab which educates students on hardware requirements and the latest trends in network systems administration. CIS students also have access to free or greatly discounted software packages through IUWare and the campus bookstore.
The CIS faculty has a wide range of experience and expertise. All associate faculty members are currently employed or self-employed in the field of Information Technology (IT). Additionally, all full-time faculty members have past work experience in IT-related fields such as computer graphics, computer networking systems, office systems, computer security, computer programming, systems development, and database modeling and design.
The CIS program offers both day and evening classes, and a wide variety of classes are available online. The CIS program also offers classes that meet one night per week for three hours in order to help students obtain the widest variety of scheduling options.
Career Opportunities
Recent advances in computer technology, including the growth of Internet services, networks, and the development of sophisticated database tools, provide new employment opportunities in the 21st century. CIS graduates typically find employment as systems and database analysts, network administrators, and web developers.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other education completed
- Applicants must have completed the following coursework: eight semester of english, six to eight semester of mathematics, six to eight semester of natural sciences, six semester of social sciences, two semesters of health, physical education
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 71 in ibt; 530 or higher in PBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.0
- PTE: minimum 48
