Our mission, as the Northern Kentucky University Respiratory Care Program, is to provide our students with a solid foundation in current respiratory care theory and practice, and with the skills necessary for them to become contributing members of the profession. We strive to create a supportive learning environment which fosters initiative, critical thinking, self-discipline, and compassion.
The Respiratory Care Program faculty believe in the importance of providing a learner-centered program that is committed to excellence and public engagement of their students, faculty, and staff. The program provides leadership for the improved respiratory health of people in the community through excellence in education, public service, and clinical practice.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of all previous education completed
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by a member of NACES
- Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.30 or equivalent on a scale of 4.0
- Must have completed following courses with C grade or better: Chemistry, Biology, statistics, introduction to health professions
- Submit official test scores of SAT/ACT
- Applicants must meet the minimum standards: SAT (480 in Evidence based reading and writing; 500 in Maths), ACT (English: 18, Maths: 19, Reading: 20)
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 79 in iBT with 14 in reading; 550 in PBT with 48 in reading
- IELTS: minimum 6.5 with 5.5 in each sub-score
- Duolingo: minimum 115
- PTE: minimum 55
