The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures offers a German major and minor that prepare you for today’s globalized world—providing the linguistic fluency and cultural competency needed to obtain a broad range of academic, service, and professional opportunities.
Led by native speakers, our German program supports interdisciplinary study with many other Butler departments, programs, and colleges, including International Studies, History and Anthropology, Text and Ideas (T&I), Business, Communication, Pharmacy, and the fine arts.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit original copies of transcripts or marksheets from each secondary school or institution attended
- Transcripts in foreign language should be translated into English
- Submit English language proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 550 in PBT; minimum 79 in iBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.0
- Duolingo: minimum score of 100
- MELAB: minimum score of 80
- PTE: minimum score of 53
- SAT: Evidence based writing and writing score of minimum 500
- ACT: minimum score of 19 in English
