- The main goal of the Gwen Frostic School of Art is to provide education in the visual arts to the students of Western Michigan University.
- An innovative foundation program integrates traditional skills with recent computer technologies; while rigorous upper-division course work allows the student to specialize in one or more media.
- The faculty fosters the technical skills, critical thinking, and creative freedom necessary to prepare students for careers in the competitive fields of studio art, graphic design, art education, and art history.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Applicants must be high school qualified.
- University strongly recommends high school students take a rigorous college preparatory curriculum prior to enrolling at WMU. The base core includes:
- 4 years of English
- 3-4 years of math (through second-year algebra or pre-calculus)
- 3 years of natural sciences (two or more with a lab component)
- 2 years of the same foreign language
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicants should be high school qualified.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
