Our program is designed to cover knowledge and skills in prevention, diagnosis and intervention of emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions. During your final year in the AT Program, you apply to become an eligible candidate for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam. You must successfully pass the BOC exam in order to earn the title Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Following certification, you must obtain licensure in order to practice as an Athletic Trainer. In Louisiana, the governing body is the State Board of Medical Examiners.

In preparation for the Program's transition to a graduate degree, we are no longer accepting undergraduate students. This is in compliance with our teach out plan submitted to our program's and university's accreditation policies, and is effective January 1st, 2017.

Our AT Program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). The program has been placed on Probation as of February 19, 2016 by the CAATE, 6850 Austin Center Blvd., Suite 100, Austin, TX 78731-3101. Our AT Program will be coming off probation at the end of this reporting cycle due to the excellent performance on the BOC exam by the Class of 2017.
