Our consistent success in the American Association of Petroleum Geologist?s Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) competition demonstrates that we are the top program in the Gulf Coast region and one of the top programs in the nation in the area of petroleum geology. The IBA petroleum exploration student competition started in 2008, and we won the Gulf Coast section in 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2014, beating other universities from Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. In 2012 and 2014 we won the international competition respectively beating 103 and 122 universities from around the world. UL Lafayette Geology is the only two-time winner of the international IBA competition.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicants must have completed bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Submit official transcripts of all previous education completed
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES accredited agency
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 or equivalent
- Submit GRE scores
- Submit English Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 79 in ibt
- IELTS: minimum 6.5
- PTE: minimum 53
