LMU's Communication Studies major helps students develop an appreciation for the role that communication plays in building local and global communities based on fairness and equity. Majors examine interpersonal, small group, and social influence phenomena, among others. Informed by critical and philosophical perspectives, the program teaches students to become more effective communicators who use their knowledge and skills to enjoy satisfying personal and professional lives while helping to make a more socially just world.
LMU's Communication Studies Department provides students with the communication competencies to pursue their personal, professional, and civic goals. Our department fosters the development of the whole person, promotes a commitment to social justice and cultural diversity, and confronts the most pressing contemporary political, social, and ethical issues of our time. To this end, we prepare students to communicate effectively in the service of human dignity and rights, civic engagement, and global equity.

Academic Eligibility:

International students are not required to submit the SAT or ACT to complete their application to LMU. Strong candidates for admission who do not provide these scores will provide alternate assessments of their academic abilities such as International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, A levels, or rigorous national examinations.
Non-native English speakers must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) given by the Educational Testing Service and arrange for scores to be sent to the Office of Admission. As an alternative to taking the TOEFL, non-native English speakers may also take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Submit your transcripts in English from all secondary schools/high schools attended. Full transcripts from each individual school year must be provided.
