- LMU's innovative M.A. in Educational Studies program offers you the opportunity to design a tailored, personalized M.A. curriculum that reflects your personal and professional goals. In this program, you take 30 units of coursework: 4 core courses (12 units), and 6 elective courses (18 units) selected in consultation with your academic advisor. Because you can choose your electives from any of the School of Education's available courses, this program offers you the maximum flexibility in designing your study plan. This program does not lead to a California teaching credential, and as such is not the best program for those who plan to work as teachers in the California K-12 public school system.
- Learning outcomes:
- Candidates will develop an understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of education.
- Candidates will develop and improve the critical thinking skills needed to apply the knowledge and skills learned throughout the program.
- Candidates will acquire and develop the knowledge, skills, and perspectives to examine and act upon the ethical and social justice dimensions of schooling.
- Candidates will utilize educational research skills to investigate educational issues and challenges.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- One copy of Official Transcripts: From all schools attended since high school (secondary school).
- Transcript Evaluation: International applicants who have completed their postsecondary education from an institution outside the United States (U.S.) must hold a degree from a university recognized by the Ministry of Education as a degree-granting institution. Transcripts from an international institution must be translated and evaluated by a U.S. transcript evaluation service before the application is considered for admission.
- TOEFL/IELTS: All applicants must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) unless they received a high school diploma or a bachelor's degree in the United States
- The minimum GPA required is 3.0.
- Standardized Test Scores from the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
