The program is committed to maintaining vital student activities that afford students the opportunity to hone their skills in communication through co-curricular involvement.? The program is also dedicated to providing outreach and service in the area of Communication Studies to SMSU's region.
The Program supports a variety of majors and minors to prepare students for careers in communication. All students who complete a major/minor are required to maintain a portfolio of their communication coursework throughout their years of study and present the portfolio as part of the program's on-going assessment efforts in the Senior Seminar course.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicants must provide proof of high school or secondary education to be considered for admission into the university
- Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or equivalent on a scale of 4.0 for admissions consideration
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by an evaluation agency like WES, ECE or SpanTran
- Personal letter should be submitted highlighting your goals and why you should be selected
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 61 in iBT; 500 in PBT; 173 in CBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 5.5
- Duolingo: minimum score of 95
- PTE: minimum score of 47
- SAT: minimum score of 540 in evidence based reading and writing
- ACT: minimum 21 in English
