Actuaries use mathematics, statistics, and financial theory to study uncertain future events, especially those of concern to insurance and pension programs. Practicing actuaries are involved in the modeling and management of financial risk and contingent events, calculate insurance premiums, policy and loss reserves (liabilities), and estimate costs of future losses.
Actuaries may work for insurance companies, consulting firms, government, employee benefits departments of large corporations, hospitals, banks and investment firms, or, more generally, in businesses that need to manage financial risk.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official high school transcripts, marksheets and certificates
- Official transcripts must be translated into English and should contain course by course description of high school courses
- Applicants should have completed the following at high school level: 4 credits of English, 3 credits of Maths and Social Science, 3 credits of science, 4 elective credits from areas in world business,art, design, and other academic areas
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 525 in PBT; 70 in iBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.0
- Duolingo: minimum 105
- PTE: minimum 48
