The Physical Education Teacher Certification emphasis is "Nationally Recognized" by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). The EC-12 Physical Education Teacher Certification emphasis provides a rigorous program of preparation culminating in a capstone class (KIN 470). This class is generally taken during the semester the candidate is completing their internship and part of the requirements for this class entails the qualifying examination for enabling the student to sit for their content area for the State of Texas licensure exam (TExES). Students must meet the qualifications within their content area prior to student teaching. The program has a 100% pass rate for students taking the TExES exam during the past four years.
