After finishing the foundation courses in the program at Christopher Newport University, students in the bachelor of science program select their major area and take upper-level courses that further develop critical-thinking skills and field techniques.
After Graduation
Our graduates go on to be sought-after laboratory and field scientists, wildlife biologists, forensics experts, and state or government biologists, among other careers in science.
Biology majors are also well prepared to continue their education at top graduate programs and medical schools. Many graduates enter Christopher Newport’s MS program in Environmental Science or the Master of Arts in Teaching Program. Both offer a five-year option as well as a traditional master’s program.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official high school transcripts or secondary school transcripts with English translation if they are not in English
- Submit teacher evaluations in core subjects like English, Social Studies, foreign language, Mathematics or Science
- Have your counselor submit a school report form electronically
- Submit SAT or ACT scores directly to the university
- Schedule an admission interview
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 71 in iBT; 197 in CBT; 530 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.0
- Duolingo: minimum 100
- PTE: minimum 50
- iTEP: minimum 3.7
- MELAB: minimum 74
