Visa requirements for International Students
In order to get an F-1 visa, the student should be accepted by the college. The following steps should be followed by the student applying for F-1 visa:
- Apply for an I-20 form;
- Submit the statement of financial responsibility with supporting documents like bank statements and a letter from the bank to prove the financial ability;
- The college will send the I-20 form via courier service;
- Pay the $200 SEVIS fee to the Department of Homeland Security;
- Receive further communication from the college for scheduling an interview for a visa in the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
