A Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in language provides students with a broad base of knowledge in the English language. Coursework is designed to ensure successful students are proficient in cross-cultural communication and composition.
The Language emphasis is most likely to appeal to students who want to teach English as a Second Language. We strongly recommend that students who choose this emphasis also choose a minor in English as a Second Language. The ESL program is available through the Pittsburg State's College of Education.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other education completed
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or equivalent
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 68 in ibt; 520 in PBT; 190 in CBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.0
- Duolingo: minimum 85
