SLU’s online Bachelor of Science in computer information systems (CIS) requires 120 credit hours. Students can choose to specialize in one of three tracks:
Data Analytics
Prepare for a career as a market research analyst, data analyst or in business intelligence. Learn how to collect, analyze, interpret and present information obtained from data drawn from multiple, often disparate sources of organizational data.
Data analytics professionals plan and coordinate all technology-related activity for a business and work alongside managers of a company to meet the technological needs of the organization. Information systems professionals specialize in software, network security and Internet processes.
Employment for data analytics professionals looks strong thanks to emerging technology and the increasing need for sophisticated computer networks within organizations.
Information Security and Assurance
Prepare for a career as an information security analyst, web developer, computer network architect or information assurance engineer. Gain the skills needed to secure information assets of an organization and ensure that data can be created, accessed and modified by only those with the requisite privileges. Upon completion of the information security and assurance CIS degree, students will be prepared for employment opportunities in a variety of businesses and organizations.
Students who pursue the computer programming training should be able to think logically and creatively, and should have strong math and technical skills.
