Psychology is both an applied and academic field dedicated to mental processes and behavior. It is the science of how we think, act and feel. Environmental, physiological, and genetic factors are considered in human behavior. There is a broad diversity of specializations. ?Psychologists work in academic settings, independent practices, hospitals, and clinics, as well as government, business and industry.?
Psychology majors are required to take six foundation courses to ensure a breadth of knowledge. These include Fundamentals of Psychology, Statistics, Research Methods and History/Literature I and II. In their junior year, psychology majors take a Career Development seminar that addresses practical concerns related to job searches and graduate school admission. Students will also choose among a set of eight core courses to develop a breadth of understanding of the field of psychology.
