Co-curricular and extracurricular activities include the Seton Hall Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSSA); the student-run public relations agency; PRSSA?s Bateman Case Study Competition Team; and the Communication Honors Alumni Mentoring Program (CHAMP).?

Experiential learning is a cornerstone of the PR program. Students gain real-world experience in their PR II: Strategic Planning and Client Relations class or through internships in agencies, corporations, nonprofits or other organizations. Students? experiential work is tied to the theories they learn in the classroom, and their professional opportunities allow them to apply their knowledge and share the lessons learned with classmates. Students can graduate with a robust portfolio they can share with prospective employers.

The Public Relations major consists of 48 credits. Thirty-three credits of required courses include a mix of Public Relations courses, as well as some Communication and Journalism courses. Required courses include Writing for the Media (which is a pre-requisite to taking Public Relations 1), Introduction to Communication Theory (which is a pre-requisite to taking Public Relations Research), as well as classes like Media Law and Communication Ethics. An additional 15 credits of electives are also required.
