Mathematics majors may choose between concentrations in mathematics or statistics. The mathematics concentration includes traditional coursework in algebra and analysis as well as the option of taking courses in applied mathematics.
The statistics concentration is designed for students interested in working on applied problems that require analysis of statistical data arising in the industry.
The Bachelor in Science in Mathematics affords career opportunities in education, finance, engineering, manufacturing, scientific computing, accounting and other research-oriented fields. Alumni often return to the USC Upstate campus to recruit Math and Computer Science students for employment ? a true testament to the experience the department?s faculty continue to give students.
