- The Master?s degree offers two options: Plan A, which requires a thesis, and Plan B, a non-thesis alternative that requires a significant research project. Students must maintain a 3.0 grade point average throughout the program. For terminal master?s degree students, a final written comprehensive examination is required before thesis or project hours may be taken. Students in Plan A must successfully defend a master?s thesis. Students admitted to the Ph.D. program must pass a qualifying exam upon completion of the master?s degree in order to continue studies through the Ph.D.
- We offer a strong, dynamic program, with close mentorship from the faculty. The program provides flexibility for self-directed students to develop expertise in any of the three core fields - human development, cognition and motivation and research and statistics. Human development explores the experiences that shape human growth. Cognition and motivation assesses the complexity of the forces that support learning and motivation. Research and statistics prepares students to evaluate existing research and to conduct their own studies. The program is flexible enough to allow for and encourage an interdisciplinary course of study.
