Communication - Public relations (PR) is a growing field with a dynamic range of career possibilities. You not only learn to be an effective communicator, you also learn how to identify and address specific PR situations. If you’re looking for a public relations major, the Department of Communication and Art offers PR as an area of concentration for our communication degree.

Talking the Talk

Behind every story, there’s a person to craft it. With a public relations emphasis, you learn how to develop long- and short-term strategy and shape strong narratives with decisive communication goals. You learn how to write well and work under pressure, while capturing your readers’ attention.

Real-Life Study

Public relations is grounded in the real world. You’ll look at actual cases to understand how PR campaigns work. You’ll develop a portfolio of your own writing, examine current trends in the field and take on an internship to bolster your study with behind-the-scenes experience.

What’s Next

Make the conversation about you (or your client). Public relations graduates go on to careers at agencies and as in-house personnel at organizations across multiple industries. They work in PR, advertising, sales, marketing and communications for global companies.

Ready to start issuing media alerts about your brilliant new career path? Then contact us now for more information about the public relations track of our communication degree.
