The biology program strives to provide students with hands-on experiences in laboratory and field procedures. Most courses offered within the department's majors have laboratory sessions that actively engage students in the scientific method and current laboratory and field techniques.
Cross-discipline Learning
The Biology Department encourages students to engage in cross-discipline learning. Within the global business environment, students that are prepared and capable to effectively interact between disciplines are in great demand.
Undergraduate Research Experiences
Saint Mary?s biology students actively engage in undergraduate research experiences. Students are encouraged to participate in a variety of activities outside of the classroom including the Biology Department seminar series, Biology Club, Pre Med Club, and the Saint Mary?s chapter of the national biological honor society, Beta Beta Beta. The department also sponsors one of the nation's longest running annual undergraduate research symposiums.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school and previous education completed
- Official transcripts should evaluated course by course from an accredited agency like SpanTran, WES
- Submit a 650 words essay addressing why you want to pursue the course at the university
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 72 in iBT; 533 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.0
- PTE: minimum 51
- Duolingo: minimum 110
