New Delhi: Jamia Hamdard University has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dalhousie University, Canada, to strengthen academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.

According to the officials, the MoU agreement has been signed with an aim to create a collaborative degree programme and research project for School of Nursing, Jamia Hamdard University and Allied Health's nursing students. 

In the presence of several dignitaries, M. Afshar Alam, vice chancellor of Jamia Hamdard, and Matt Hebb, vice president for government and international affairs at Dalhousie University in Canada, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on March 6, 2023.

During the signing of MoU and addressing the audience, Alam said that all of Jamia Hamdard's academic programmes are created to help students become global citizens. Both institutions are driven to advance this collaboration and engage in student training and creative research aimed at addressing social needs.

According to Hebb, the students will be given additional options as a result of the collaboration between the two universities. The coming together of these two institutes of international reputation would further boost the quality of research, education and possibilities for students and help them become global citizens, said Hebb.

Congratulating both the Institutes on this milestone, Dr. Prachi Kaul, Director, Director of Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute encouraged them for a fruitful and active collaboration.

During the occasion, some of the other dignitaries from Jamia Hamdard present were Mr. Syed Saud Akhtar, Registrar, Prof. Manju Chhugani, Dean, School of Nursing Sciences and Allied Health, Prof. Farhan J. Ahmad, Dean, School of Interdisciplinary Sciences & Technology, Prof. Veena Sharma, Principal, School of Nursing, Jamia Hamdard, Ms. Seema Rani and Md. Tauhid Alam.
