There were many reasons for choosing this university. The University of Alberta comes in the top 100 universities of the world for my major. It isn't in a major city, so the cost of living is comparably lower. This university also has a reputation for helping students in all ways.
Fees
For 4 years of the degree, it is $ 80,000 CAD
Overview
Unity in Diversity was the foremost reason of choosing this university. Completing higher education in India is not a big deal, but most of the students do not know what to choose as their profession. U of A has the first year as qualifying year. It gives us an opportunity to understand the subjects in depth and that makes more clear about the specific field. I was pretty sure about the computing field but the grades and understanding in the MATLAB (which I did for the first time) made it more clear that I was right ! I belong to a small pilgrimage place, Dakor from Kheda district in Gujarat. Studying in the only English school in whole district, I got ample of opportunities in every field because of the higher illiteracy rates around my hometown. I am glad that I am here with the grace of God and surely, the dedication and hard work of my parents.
Fees
It is CAD 27000 for the first year known as the qualifying year. For my course I mentioned in the second year, it has raised to approximately CAD 31000 ! Ample of options for scholarships but most of them are for the the first nations. For international students, the best chance to get scholarships are while applying for the university. They offer $500 scholarship to the new coming students but there is a deadline to apply for that and it is too early. Like I applied a bit late for the university so I was not eligible to apply for scholarship. If you are trying the Sept intake 2019, then deadline might be December 22, 2018 ! Almost a year ahead. So, plan early and apply for scholarship before hand if you are pretty sure that you want to study in the University of Alberta.
Overview
I heard from friends that it was one of the best colleges for engineering in Canada, websites that I researched confirmed this so I applied and got accepted quickly. The admission process was simple, they just needed basic information and my grades. I had a 90%+ average in grade 12 so I got in easily.
Fees
The total fees if you decide to live on residence are around $36,000 CAD. I did not pursue a loan so I can not name any agencies. There are many scholarships available although I do not know any by name. The amounts and criteria vary quite a bit between them. However, there is something for everyone.
Overview
Close, reasonable tuitions, good programs, it was 3rd in all of Canada. It has a good mental health program and really good advisors. It's also pretty and big! I had lots of fun clubs and lots of things to do!
Fees
The fee is $500 per class, around $3000 per semester. $6000 total for 10 classes (full year). The bus pass is = $500-$600 you cannot opt out of it.
Overview
I opted for this university for a chance to be successful in the future and help others.
Fees
Tuition fees are established and reviewed on an annual basis through the college's approval process in accordance with provincial tuition fee legislation. All other fees are developed and approved through the college's fee approval process and are reviewed on an annual basis.
