The Diploma degree in Music at Douglas College is offered as 2 years or 4-term teaching program.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students must complete BC secondary school graduation (or the equivalent in another school system).
Students have one course short of BC secondary school graduation.
Students complete 19 years old by the end of the first month of the first semester of attendance.
English 12 with a minimum grade of "C" or approved substitution is required.
Practical Audition: The student will perform music on his/her instrument or voice. To be placed in performance-level Studio Instruction courses, the student will demonstrate proficiency at the following minimum levels:
- Keyboard: Grade 10 RCMT or equivalent
- Guitar: Grade 5 RCMT or equivalent
- All other instruments and voice: Grade 6 RCMT or equivalent
Theory Assessment: The student must demonstrate familiarity and fluency with musical rudiments.
Intake Interview: The student will meet with a music faculty member to discuss their course plan and future goals.

Language Requirements:

Students must have strong English skills.
The students whose official language is not English must submit the English Language Proficiency scores like IELTS or TOEFL.
If the student does not meet the language requirements they can take English Language Learning and Acquisition (ELLA) program and complete it and pursue this program.
