College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, was established in 1926, first as the School of Medical Sciences.. The College is located in Saskatoon and it is the only medical school in the Canadian Province of Saskatchewan. The University of Saskatchewan’s College of Medicine offers a four year Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) program

As the only medical school in Saskatchewan, the University of Saskatchewan, College of Medicine, exists to serve the residents of the province.   • The college of Medicine offers various programs to the students.
  • The Undergraduate MD program is a four-year program, leading to a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree.
  • The MD degree cannot be begun directly from high school. A four-year baccalaureate degree will need to have taken place before admissions into the college.
  • Following the MD degree, you can enroll for Residency or the graduate program you prefer
  • Residency training varies between 2-6 years depending on the program. Residency training can be in any of the following programs; Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Cardiology, General Surgery, Family Medicine, and Emergency Medicine.
  • Seven graduate programs are available at the College. Community health and epidemiology, Health science and, Biomedical science are the areas under which these programs are available.
  • The College has a well-recognized research team, performing ground-breaking research even during this COVID-19 pandemic.

  • The College has bursaries, awards, and scholarships available for MD students.
  • Biomedical Summer Research, MD research experience, MD volunteer, Interdisciplinary Summer Research and Letters of Excellence and MD Excellence in research awards are the various research funding opportunities available to undergraduate MD students
  • International Baccalaureate Excellence awards of 15,000 CAD
  • Graduate departmental scholarships give 18,000 CAD as minimum stipend per year to MSc graduate students
  • The University also provides 16,000 CAD for up to two years to graduate students in Physiology, Pharmacology, or Health sciences.
  • 17,500 CAD is awarded to MSc students for one year, non-renewable as external funding awarded jointly by CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC
