The study of business administration involves a number of functional areas including accounting, information systems, finance, marketing, operations management and human resource management. These functional areas are developed from a number of basic disciplines. For example, marketing relies on the disciplines of microeconomics, statistics and psychology: finance and operations management rely on mathematics and statistics and human resource management relies on psychology and sociology.
