The University of Waterloo is world-renowned for its cooperative education program and it is a great way to get job experience related to your field of study while you are still in school. This gives a great advantage when students graduate.
Course Curriculum
I don't think the current high school course curriculum is even relatively close to preparing students for the university as they should be. When I was in high school 5 years ago, I did not have much homework, the classes were easy and nothing challenged me. That is an issue.
Exams
I did not have to take any entrance exams to get into my undergraduate program as it is a Canadian university.
Placement
Placements and job opportunities are very stable and advanced jobs. They all start at 60K per year and many are for big companies and universities around the world, for example, a researcher for Harvard, or policymaker for the Ontario government.
Internship
Yes, it provides job experience through the co-operative education program as well as extrinsically through professors and researchers for the university. Many students may also get involved through volunteering.
Events
There are no events celebrated at the University of Waterloo as most revolve around engineering. Arts and science never have events. Anytime I hear about anything it's always about an engineering or math hackathon or party.
Fees
Ranges from 4000-8000 per semester depending on your field of study and other charges include hidden refundable fees of up to $200 that we do not know of.
Examination Structure
The exam structure is unfair and very tough. Science processors do not allow students to review their exams. However, Arts professors will spend hours with a student to discuss areas of improvement and growth.
Faculty
The faculty of arts and faculty of science at the University of Waterloo are dichotomous. While arts professors value their student's growth and education and mental health.
Hostel
Off-campus housing worked best for me as it was convenient for my car and friends and closer to our jobs and also food and the university itself. The residence was deep in campus and out of the way of everything else.
