Dishita Review at Trent University, Peterborough | Collegedunia

International student lifestyle

D
4.8 /10

Scholarship money, cheaper than other universities, accepting the culture and interesting courses, has good varsity teams and a nice gym. Organized faculty and helpful academic advisor for international students and also job hunting and co-ops. It's ranked the most beautiful campus in the entire province and is on the banks of a river.

Course Curriculum :

Decent, it's very scarcely populated with less diversity but the people aren't very accepting it has a small campus and it's located in a very small city with 81000 people only so not many internship opportunities as such.

Exams :

This is the career path I chose I have been studying business for the past four years and enjoy studying the topics and subtopics that come underneath it and have always been passionate about music hence a joint major in cultural studies as well I aspire to join the business side of music industries, I gave my IELTS and scored a 7.5.

Placement :

All the students working on campus in the office are international students, they are given preference over local students, this is good because it's harder for international students to get jobs. They do also provide training for job benefits i.e. How to make a successful resume and interview tips and tricks which is very helpful.

Internship :

Yes, it does but I just started so I don't have a job yet, but the minimum wage is 14$ an hour and international students get preference for jobs on campus also they do a lot of extracurricular activities and have fabulous volunteering opportunities.

Fees :

The fee structure is that like any other country international students pay three times the fees and scholarship opportunities are not many in Canada which are terrible because education is expensive however they do give an entrance scholarship based on the high school transcript marks. There are certain grants and further academic scholarships one can apply for in the later years, however, it is not of a significant amount.

Hostel :

For the first year since I'm just starting I'm staying on campus Canada is scarcely populated so there are no many people but it's more helpful because it's close to classes and campus also helps me make friends from university but the campus living isn't much more expensive.
