Srinath Review at Western University [UWO], London | Collegedunia

My experience at Western University

It was well known and I was already in London, Ontario pursuing another course at Fanshawe College. That’s one of the major reasons I chose to go with this university

Course Curriculum :

It is pretty updated and lies more towards the current industry trend. All the projects were pretty close to what you would do in a typical workplace and gave an insight on how your work will be. Projects involved learning new softwares that are currently used in the industry. Overall, it was pretty good.

Exams :

Admission conditions : 4 years undergraduate degree (preferably mechanical engineering) Minimum 70% in undergraduate IELTS minimum of 6 Overall with no band below 6 My scores : IELTS 7.5 overall Listening : 8.0 Writing : 6.5 Speaking 7.5 Reading : 8.0

Placement :

The post study placement is pretty good as long as you have done something considerable during your university education. Networking is pretty good, they have resume and LinkedIn profile rating/guidance services available for free. They conduct a lot of webinars to help you connect with people from the industry. Median salary depends on the experience you have in hand. On an average it is around 50,000 CAD/year.

Internship :

No, I did not do any internships

Fees :

Around 41,000 CAD

Scholarship :

No scholarship

Faculty :

The faculty to student ratio varies depending on the course you take for each term. Generally speaking, it would be around 12-18 members in a class. Professors are pretty good at getting back to you if you have questions. Ideal response time is around a day or two for any emails sent.

Campus Life :

Not much Extracurricular activities due to COVID. But, there were clubs such as the rocketry club which met virtually and they worked on designing a rocket. Campus has wifi. Research support is incredible in the university. There were a lot of workshops that were conducted to enhance the knowledge, some of them were free and some of them were at a discounted price.

Hostel :

Not sure about the in campus accommodation. I chose to live outside as it was much cheaper. University also offers off campus housing which you can rent for around 800-1000 CAD/month for a single bedroom apartment.
