Piyush Sapra Review at University Of The Fraser Valley [UFV], Abbotsford | Collegedunia

UFV, Canada

Course Curriculum :

The Canadian course is easier than the one that they have in India especially in Computers. The ones that I am studying is far better than the Indian curriculum. In India, a Commerce student can?t really think about pursuing computer science. But, here I have friends who are from Commerce background and are doing really well in my course. Because, in this course, we are only taught about Mathematics and Statistics which are the only things required to access in this field. So, I think the pressure is easy and it is good for each and every type of student.

Exams :

The university has different campuses in different areas. So, it has a campus in India in Chandigarh. So, it is known by the name Fraser Valley, India. So, I started my studies there. So there, the minimum percentage required for my specific course was 70% for all boards. In Fraser Valley, India, they only offer three courses i.e., BCA, BBA and BA. They have a program. In this program, students get an option to either transfer to University of the Fraser Valley, Canada after studying one or two or three years here in Chandigarh. It?s up to the student. My percentage was 93.8 in CBSE. To transfer to Canada, IELTS or TOEFL is required which has a minimum requirement. So, in my case, I gave IELTS and I scored 8 bands out of 9. The minimum required is 6 bands.

Placement :

Easy placements and co-ops are available for students.

Fees :

$630 per credit

Faculty :

The professors are bit easy going. They are quite helpful to students.

Campus Life :

There is a wide range of co curricular activities in the Indian campus only. I don?t know much about Canadian campus. Even in the online environment we had so many co curriculars. For example, two Saturdays in a month, we have a Super Saturday kind of thing where the university invites professionals from India or from Canada or some students that have transferred to Canada for their Pep Talks. Also, we have lots of clubs like dance, music, acting, cooking, and graphics. I am currently the president of a club which is an international organization Close Master International. When we were on the campus, we had a Sports Week kind of thing where students used to participate in different sports. The university made arrangements like they booked a Football ground or Badminton Court or something. We also had Teachers vs Students match. We have a Pool Table, Carom, Chess so that students can relax during their classes. One of the biggest co curricular thing offered by the university is Company Program. So every year, the university interviews the interested students and selects one of them and forms a company. So, they decide on a product, go to investors, do the investments, develop the product, sell it and they even have their shares. There is also a Tech Gear activity especially for computer students. They work with different university professionals and develop applications, websites or some hardware stuffs as well.

Hostel :

We don't get accommodation on our own very easily here, they provide us accommodation which is really good and if we don't opt for that then it would be difficult for us.
