It was the closest for me to commute to. I like that it was downtown because everything is walking distance. In a way, I like how it didn't feel like a university, but a high school. In terms of application fee, it was reasonable. I applied to 2 other universities in addition to Ryerson. I was a honour student in 12th grade.
Course Curriculum
It's medium. I don't like the profs that teach the first year of this program. However, the profs are much better later on. I also believe some courses that are available for 3rd years should be available for 4th year instead.
Exams
I joined this program because I wanted to be a dietician. The minimum score be considered is 80%. It's a small program that has about 100 students give or take. no exam is needed to enter this program. There are also entrance scholarships available for those with high GPA. This program is high also an accredited program to becoming a dietician.
Placement
The place and job opportunities are limited; this program forces you to find opportunities outside of the program. They will guide you, but will not give you the opportunities. There is a Faculty of community service facebook page that people would post job opportunities.
Internship
Yes; Ryerson offers their career boast to domestic student. It is a great was to work a flexible job without commuting so far. The managers are often profs and staff of the university. They are very understanding when it comes to scheduling. Average number of hours is 20.
Events
Eat think and vote, Halloween pumpkin carving contest, frosh.
Fees
there are entrances scholarships available to all students. There is also the CIFST junior and senior scholarship that awards students $1000. There are a lot of awards given to students in the nutrition program. There is also the "Canada Pakistan Foundation of Friendship Award for First Generation Students" which grants you $2000.
Scholarship
Yes. I had to apply to OSAP for a loan. In addition, I work on campus to make some extra money on the side for my travel expenses. On top of that, I have also applied to some scholarships.
Examination Structure
The exam structure is all over the place.
Faculty
I am in the faculty of community service. The is not that many staff in the nutrition department, but they are a helpful bunch. They host events here and there.
Hostel
I liked with my family, so I did not have to worry about making enough money for rent. I did not live on residence. The only thing I spent money on was a monthly bus pass so I could commute to my classes monday to friday.
