This college was close to home, I was tired of living away from home after the first undergraduate degree that I completed. Additionally, this college provided a co-op program which was one of the main reasons that I was interested in it.
Course Curriculum :
The course curriculum so far has been good, I feel like I have learned everything I needed so far to be a competitor in the accounting field, as well as in order to apply for the CPA. The only thing I wish there was more of was the usage of common software used in the industry.
Exams :
In the past, I have taken the DAT for dentistry. I also plan on doing the CPA so I will be participating in the CPA exam as well.
Placement :
There is a good variety of jobs to apply to, but there is not a large volume of jobs that you can apply to yet. I did have to try to find placement elsewhere (outside) because there were not as many jobs as I'd hope to find on the job board.
Internship :
Yes, my college provides co-op and internship opportunities. I have not participated in co-op yet, next term will be my first work term. So far, it has been interesting, they provide you with a basic class to get you started on job searching, creating your resume, cover letter, etc and you utilize a job board to apply to opportunities.
Events :
There are various events that occur at the college. One specialized event would be Hazel McCallion's birthday (the old mayor of Mississauga). In addition to this, there are typical things such as job fairs, club days, etc.
Fees :
Tuition includes a myriad of different charges such as transportation, facilities, benefits, software, etc.
Scholarship :
Yes, I have applied for a scholarship this term and actually received one for about $600.00 for students with low income.
Examination Structure :
The exam structure is similar to any other school, some multiple choice questions, some short answer, some long answer. I did notice that when I was at the University of Waterloo, we mainly did multiple choice, but that might have been because I was in science.
Faculty :
The faculty is definitely hit or miss. Some professors are amazing and do their jobs very well, but at the same time, Sheridan also has some professors of which have no idea what they're doing. This can be very frustrating at times especially when they expect us to use the flipped classroom model.
Hostel :
As far as I know, a majority of the students at Sheridan commute to school. Many people are living at home with their families or renting nearby apartments and rooms in houses (which can be expensive) since it is in the downtown core of Mississauga.
