The MA in Health has two fields of specialization:
- Specialized field in Health Policy and Equity
- Specialized field in Health System Management & Health Data Analytics
- The MA program examines health policy and equity, emphasizing how societal economic, political, and social structures and processes influence health. Attention is given to how public policy shapes the a) social inequalities that cause disease and b) the organization and delivery of care.
- The MA in Health (specialized field in Health Policy & Equity) emphasizes the analysis and promotion of equity in health through public policy action.
- Students also get the opportunity to enroll in the health care plan managed by the York University Graduate Students’ Association (YUGSA).
- The structure and environment of the field encourage advanced research, new scholarship, and opportunities to contribute to the discipline, enabling students to explore health policy in relation to equity and human rights perspectives.
- The program is critical social science-oriented and draws upon various disciplines, including educational theory, health studies, political economy, philosophy, political science, law, psychology, and sociology.
- Students can also apply for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship.
- Students have to complete a Major Research Paper at the end of the year and the length of the MRP is 50 pages with an upper limit of no more than 65 pages.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a 4-year undergraduate degree in Health or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
- An undergraduate grade point average of 3.33 (B+ grade) out of 4.0 from accredited institutions is required for unconditional admission.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

- Statement of Purpose: This statement must describe your qualifications and the objectives of your intended educational program.
- Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
- Official Transcripts: Applicants who have attended and/or received degrees from institutions outside the US must provide certified copies and certified English translations of transcripts or records of all previous post-secondary education and of all degrees conferred.
- ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
