- Dalhousie University offers a Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Engineering for a duration of 5 years.
- It is an on-campus, co-op program offered on a full-time basis.
- Materials Engineering students study the development of products used for building and manufacturing to respond to a range of societal needs efficient transportation, faster computers, and heat resistant materials.
- Materials Engineering co-op students work in fields including metallurgy, oil, and gas, transportation, manufacturing, telecommunications, energy conservation, shipbuilding, and electronics.
- Co-op students take the same academic program as the non-co-op program. The co-op option gives students an opportunity to complement their studies with 3 paid work terms.
- Students have to complete some additional courses prior to the 2 work term. These courses are:
- Materials Engineering
- Extraction of Materials
- Structure of Materials
- Process Thermodynamics
- Engineering Economics
- Years 1 and 2 follow the core Engineering program. A substantial part of the work in the first and second year is made up of core classes common to all engineering disciplines.
- students will apply to their preferred discipline in the winter term of the first year and the elective classes taken in the second year will depend on student's selected discipline.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have completed their following Grade 12 subjects with a minimum overall average of 70%.
- Academic English 12
- Pre-calculus Math 12
- Academic Chemistry 12
- Academic Physics 12
- Students also have to complete one additional academic subject in Grade 12.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:
- All-India Senior School Certificate (CBSE)
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
- Indian School Certificate (CISCE)
- Or, another Senior Secondary School Certificate awarded after standard XII
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
