Dalhousie University offers a Master of Public Administration for a duration of 2 years.
It is an on-campus, thesis-based program offered on a full-time basis.
This degree is specifically designed for highly motivated and dedicated individuals interested in pursuing a career in the service of the public sectors.
The School of Public Administration offers several innovative combined degrees that allow students to explore intersecting fields of study, including:
- Master of Public Administration (MPA)
- Information management (MPA/MI)
- Law (MPA/JD)
- Graduate Diploma in Public Administration (GDPA)
The combined degrees allow students to complete two degrees in less time, and to build a unique set of skills.
This program has a part-time program that can be completed in a maximum of 6 years.
Students will need a total of 54 credit hours i.e. 30 credit hours for core courses and 24 credit hours for electives course plus 2 PD courses (0 credit hours) for completion of the Master of Public Administration program.
The MPA program is accredited by the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration (CAPPA).
Almost 80% of students had found meaningful, full-time employment within 2 months of their graduation.
University provides the facilities that 100% of the students were able to find an internship as part of this program.
During the inter-session between the 2 years of study, students have the opportunity to be employed in the public sector.
The average salary goes up to 48,000 USD after completion of the program.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students should have completed a 4-year bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
A minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.33 (B grade) in the last 60 credit hours of study is required to be eligible for the program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Or, completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Or, completed a 3-year undergraduate degree from an accredited institution.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

Transcripts: Students have to submit transcripts from all universities/colleges attended, World Education Services Assessments, and English Language Proficiency test scores.
Statement of Intent: Reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
Confirmation of Employment Form: Students must be emailed as an attachment by applicant or referee.
Proof of name change: Required only if name discrepancies exist between transcripts/assessments/test scores and other application documents. Examples of proof: Marriage/divorce certificates, 2 copies of government-issued ID that include a previous and current name and date of birth.
ELP Scores: Students have to submit their English language proficiency scores like IELTS, TOEFL, or other test scores.
