Institut National de Recherche Scientifique is a state of the art university which enrolls more than 600 students each year. The university offers two short programs, undergraduate training, and masters in over 26 doctoral disciplines.INRS is a research university, with research centers in Montreal, Quebec City, Laval, and Varennes. The online form has to be filled in French language only. The university accepts applications for Fall, Summer and Winter terms. Applicants enrolling for a professional program need not choose a research advisor.

  • INRS does not provide undergraduate admissions but does provide internships for undergrad students in Natural Science, Engineering, Health Science, or Social Science.
  • Prior to application, aspirants are required to find a suitable professor with whom they plan to pursue their research. This is a mandatory requirement.
  • The university has The Environmental Technology Laboratories, The National Experimental Biology Centre and The Énergie Matériaux Télécommunications Research Centre.
  • Students must know basic to advanced french according to the course they opt for.

Students can apply for internships until February 1st. Here are some preliminary requirements for it:

  • A letter of intent.
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae.
  • Official transcripts of completed academics.

Institut National de Recherche Scientifique Graduate Admissions

These are the following admission requirements for graduate students. The institute does not offer UG courses. There are internship opportunities for UG applicants.

  • It is mandatory for all applicants to select a research advisor before starting the application process. They must submit the file for a particular research project.
  • Applicants are required to submit the application form in French language only.
  • An original or certified copy of the birth certificated must be attached with the application along with a self-addressed and stamped envelope. The document must have the first and last name of your parents and your place of birth.
  • All courses/diplomas previously attended must be filed in with the application.

INRS offers graduate courses in 26 different disciplines. Although the admission criteria are different for every course, here are some of the common requirements for graduate courses.

Energy Materials Telecommunications, Master of Science, M. Sc.

 
Bachelor degree in Applied Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Physics, or in any other relevant discipline Demonstrative Research abilities. Significant work experience. GPA of 3.0 out of 4.3 Sufficient knowledge of spoken and written French language.
Masters in Applied Microbiology Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine or any related field. GPA of 3.0 out of 4.3 Appropriate training and relevant knowledge Approval of the Research Director. Sufficient knowledge of spoken and written French language.
Master In Research Practices And Public Action Bachelor degree in Humanities or Social Sciences. GPA of 3.3 out of 4.3 At least one passed an undergraduate course in statistics. Updated Curriculum Vitae Letter of Motivation (2000 words) Sufficient knowledge of spoken and written French language.

Admissions at the Institut National de Recherche Scientifique requires a good knowledge of the French language. Applicants are advised to decide the course and research subject beforehand.
