Queen’s mining engineers account for some 33 percent of all Canadian mining and mineral processing engineers who have graduated from Canadian universities.
As technology evolves and the global economy changes, students and researchers play a key role in defining the state of the art in mining.
In close collaboration with industry partners, faculty and students work to make mining operations safer, more efficient, more productive, less impactful on the natural environment, and more cost-effective.
The Mining Engineering program concentrates on teaching and research involving the broader field of excavation and processing of ore to obtain the mineral products required by contemporary society.
The program is designed to produce engineers and specialists qualified to assess, design, and operate both underground and open-pit mines, to design and operate complex processing plants and to evaluate and maintain the mechanical equipment required by these mining or processing facilities.
The Masters' program enables qualified students to study advanced courses in their field of interest in the mining industry.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Applicants must have a Bachelors's degree in mining, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or other related engineering fields or equivalent from a recognized institution.
A GPA of at least 2.7/4 (70-72.9% or B- average) is required to be eligible for the program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Students must complete an undergraduate degree with first-class in a relevant field from a highly ranked university in India.
Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
